King trumpet mushrooms, often used interchangeably with king oysters, have a dense chewy texture and umami flavor that is often mistaken for meat or seafood. Grilling or roasting these mushrooms enhances them to a level that will excite both meat and veggie-lovers. Hokto's mushrooms are grown in a soil-free environment and do not need to be washed.
Uses: Roast in a heavy-bottomed pan until well browned and finish with a touch of butter. Cut in half, rub with oil, salt generously and then grill over charcoal.
King trumpets are a smaller version of the king oyster mushroom with a shorter stem and larger cap.
