Oyster sauce is a intensely flavorful condiment created by the founder of LKK, Lee Kum Sheung. Lee ran a tea stall that sold cooked oysters. One day, he accidentally left oysters to cook all day and found that the clear oyster soup had reduced into a thick and savory brown sauce. This oyster extract is seasoned with salt and sugar before being thickened with corn starch to make a flavorful and intensely savory condiment. Oyster sauce adds incredible depth of flavor to a variety of different dishes and is often used as a condiment to top plain blanched vegetables. Panda brand is the standard variant of the original recipe.
Uses: Pour over your blanched or steamed vegetables with a drizzle of sesame oil for a restaurant quality side. Add to your stir-frys or sauces to add a deep and complex notes of umami.
