Maitake, also known as hen of the woods, are intensely earthy, savory, and distinctively maitake scented. A must-try for the uninitiated. Hokto's mushrooms are grown in a soil-free environment and do not need to be washed.
Uses: Sauté on high heat with a generous amount of butter, thyme, and garlic. Try making a blooming onion but substituting maitake instead of the onion.
