Gai lan is a variety of broccoli that has a long history of cultivation. Broccolini is a hybrid of gai lan and conventional broccoli. Chinese broccoli is tender with a flavorful and fragrant with a flavor that is reminiscent of broccoli rabe with noticeably less bitterness. The stem, leaves, and flowers are all edible.
Uses: Blanch gai lan until tender and top with oyster sauce and sesame oil. Stir-fry with garlic, a generous amount of oil, and your favorite sauces.
