String beans, also known as green beans and haricot vert, are the young, immature fruit of a variety of the common bean. These vegetables have a mild, vegetal flavor with a hint of sweetness. They are delicious and edible both cooked and raw. String beans can be cooked a variety of ways to great effect from stir-frying to blanching to deep-frying.
Uses: String beans pair exceptionally well with fried minced pork. Stir-fry ground pork until caramelized, deglaze with soy and mirin, then add beans and sauté until tender.
