Cuttlefish, also known as mongo ika, are a cephalopod such as squid (ika) and octopus (tako). Banno mongo ika is fully cleaned cuttlefish fillet that have been scored to tenderize the flesh. Cuttlefish sashimi has a firm squid-like texture with a mild seafood flavor that is subtle and rich in umami. These cuttlefish fillets are ready-to-eat as sashimi, sushi, or added to chirashi bowls.
