Forelle pears are a delicious heirloom variety named for their pink blush: Forelle means "trout" in German. They are juicy, sweet, and incredibly fragrant. The pears will continue to redden as they ripen at room temperature. A fully ripened pear should have a significant amount of red or pink.
Uses: They are perfection when eaten raw. Top a fruit or pear tart with them if you must.
Two pounds of pears is about 7 pieces. Don't eat them all in one sitting.
