Jalapeño peppers are a richly aromatic pepper with a mild to medium amount of spiciness. They are perfect for adding a little bit of kick and a lot of flavor to your foods. The capsaicin of peppers come from the white pith and ribs which can be removed to reduce the spiciness. Jalapeños have between 2,500 and 10,000 Scoville heat units.
Uses: Jalapeños make an excellent addition to salsas and dips. Cooking jalapeños will reduce its spiciness: slow cooked foods like chili or braises should receive a little bit extra. Jalapeño scrambled eggs are delicious.
